This rather mysterious elevated block of concrete resides by the shoreline of Lake Tuggeranong in the suburb of Greenway, Canberra.
As pictured, embedded within the concrete is the shape of a crown and the structure itself is pointing north.
I have been unable to identify the structure’s symbolism and its origins.
Update: The crown, located a short distance from the Francis Greenway Memorial in Greenway, is an extension of the memorial, as the crown is a feature of Francis Greenway’s architectural works – in particular, carvings of the crown are visible on the gables on the Hyde Park Barracks and St James Church in Sydney.
