Having grown up in Tamworth, the Tamworth Post Office was an omnipresent landmark in the main street of this regional city in the north of the state of New South Wales.
As a child and teenager, I never considered that one day I might again visit the city, look up towards the clock tower in the main street and compose a couple of shots of it though my iPhone.
The building was constructed in 1886 and for about 150 years functioned as the Tamworth Post Office. I would visit it many times as a teenager, applying my postage stamps and willing off my correspondence to far off destinations abroad, and hoping they might reach the recipients in about 14 days time.
