Many a visitor to Canberra would be familiar with the Australian War Memorial with its extensive commemorative displays and collections.

Visitors would be less familiar with the AWM Annex, located in an industrial suburb of Canberra, which houses an extensive overflow of historical defence materiel including artillery, tanks, aircraft and vehicles. Some of it is under restoration, much of it, I suspect, may never see the light of day.

Periodically, the annex is opened to the public and the warehouse throws open its doors for the benefit of those willing to queue up at the entrance.

The weapons of war will always fascinate the curious.
